Metal-hydrogen battery manufacturer EnerVenue is taking a bold step towards the future of renewable energy with the announcement of its new gigafactory in Shelby County, Kentucky. With a sprawling 1 million-sq-ft facility on a 73-acre site, EnerVenue is gearing up to manufacture its Energy Storage Vessels and revolutionize the energy storage industry.
This gigafactory will be a powerhouse of innovation, encompassing all stages of design, process validation, manufacturing, and testing. In the initial phase, it will have the capacity to produce 1 GWh annually. However, EnerVenue’s ambitions don’t stop there. With a commitment to driving the renewable energy revolution, the company plans to invest over $1 billion to expand production to more than 20 GWh per year across multiple domestic manufacturing sites in subsequent phases.
The decision to establish the gigafactory in Kentucky is a testament to the state’s commitment to economic growth and sustainability. Governor Andy Beshear expressed his enthusiasm, recognizing the positive impact this investment will have on the region. The project is set to create 450 full-time jobs during the initial opening and production ramp-up phase, bringing economic opportunities and prosperity to the area.
To support EnerVenue’s ambitious plans, Shelby County offered a generous long-term incentive package, including property and wage tax rebates totaling $20 million over a 25-year period. The state of Kentucky also provided more than $10.3 million in tax incentives for the initial phase of the project. These incentives not only reflect the company’s significant local investment but also incentivize future growth and job creation as the gigafactory expands.
The demand for EnerVenue’s cutting-edge energy storage solution is soaring, with more than 7 GWh of customer commitments already secured. Pine Gate Renewables, Nicon Industries’ Green Energy Renewable Solutions, Sonnell Power Solutions, and others have recognized the value and potential of EnerVenue’s safe, durable, and versatile clean energy storage technology.
Jorg Heinemann, CEO of EnerVenue, expressed his excitement about scaling up battery production and establishing the state-of-the-art gigafactory in Shelby County. Kentucky emerged as the perfect fit for the company’s vision after a thorough nationwide vetting process. The state and county governments demonstrated their commitment to fostering manufacturing and clean energy jobs, and EnerVenue looks forward to collaborating with them as they bring their operations to life.
This gigafactory not only expands EnerVenue’s presence but also strengthens the company’s national footprint. With recent expansions in California and strategic partnerships with Precision Process and Precious Plate in New York, EnerVenue is positioning itself as a major player in the renewable energy market.
EnerVenue’s second-generation Energy Storage Vessels further underscore their commitment to scalability and customization. These large-format batteries offer customers peace of mind with Capacity Assurance, featuring a straightforward 20-year/20,000-cycle warranty extension at over 88% capacity.
Anticipation is building as the gigafactory gears up for production, set to commence by the end of the year. EnerVenue’s determined push towards renewable energy is not only transforming the energy storage landscape but also propelling us closer to a cleaner, greener future.
